3 Recommendations for Asthma Herbal Treatment

In recent years the issue of asthma herbal treatment, a subset of alternative healing, has skyrocketed to the forefront of the medical field.  It is estimated that more than one third of adults use alternative medicine and healing.

While it may seem “trendy” to some, herbal medicine (not necessarily just asthma herbal treatment) has been around for thousands of years.   In fact, many of the familiar pharmaceutical medications we use today were originally created from “natural” ingredients.  Drugs like opium (from poppies), aspirin (from willow bark), digitalis (from foxglove) and quinine (from the cinchona tree.)

Some asthma sufferers have cited the following three herbs (and numerous others) as useful in relieving their symptoms:

Blood Root
Also known as Red Root, Red Indian Paint and Tetterwort.  The root , dried rhizome, is the part of the plant that is used.  It is proven to be effective for the treatment of asthma, croup and laryngitis. It’s also useful for the treatment of bronchitis easing the bronchial muscles.

Caraway Seeds
A calming herb, its use is particularly helpful in children.  It also stimulates the appetite and because it is also an astringent it will help laryngitis, bronchitis and bronchial asthma.

Eucalyptus
Also known as Blue Gum.  The leaves and bark are used.  Excellent treatment for fever, bronchitis and asthma.
